Gordon’s 4th birthday present - Progress 4

Managed 8 inches so far with 3mm needles. Compared to 3.25mm, it’s much slower. I’ve exactly 30days to go till Gordon’s birthday on 29th August. Do you think i’ll complete it in time? If i just keep knitting and dont do anything else, i dont see why not, lolz.

Crochet blouse in Lily Yarn - Progress 2

Havent been doing much these days. I’m only at the 25th row or so, lol. And this is only the back piece. Way to go before i get to see real progress. Sigh… 4.5 inches only till now. Crochet sure takes a long time to complete….

Crochet blouse in Lily Yarn - Progress 1

We wanted to go settle some payments at the bank today and so we went straight down to Greentown right after we sent Gordon to school. As it’s also lunch time, we dropped by my friend’s restaurant, The Filling Station, that serves really good Italian food at very affordable prices. Hubby finished his spaghetti and helped me feed Malcolm whilst i ate my lasagna.

I started work on this blouse about two nights back. As i said before, i’m in no hurry to get it done. But i was desperate to try out my new Clover crochet hooks. I’m using #2 for this piece. The hook is very light and smooth. I like it immediately and would recommend it to anyone who still have yet to buy their first set of crochet hooks. A set is all you need for all your crochet projects. Definitely a must-buy item.

The blouse in the book is a bit too loose for my liking. I’m making it more clingy to my body. As i’m so darn skinny, the flutter sleeves will be nice for a change. Lily Yarn is a great metallic yarn to work with, for both knitting and crochet projects. Comes in a vast array of colors to suit all skintones. It’s such a delightful and smooth yarn; so smooth that it’ll just slide off from the ball and get all tangled up. So, if you work with this yarn, be sure to put it inside a plastic bag.

Trip to the yarn shop - Part 2

Here are some Pony yarn bobbins. As i’m doing intarsia for my kids clothes, these will come in handy as i only need to wind the required amount of yarn onto them instead of twisting large balls all the way. Half the time, they get all tangled up and i waste lots of precious time untangling them.

Pony yarn bobbins

Also picked up a packet of these Clover rubber point protectors for my finer knitting needles. I have some for the bigger needles but not for my finer ones like 3mm and below. I tried them on and they fit perfectly.

And last of all, three pencil-shaped buttons to replace the ones i removed from Gordon’s vest for use on Malcolm’s Birthday Tee. You see, i bought for him two buttons but found that i needed three. What to do…. get from his Korkor’s lohh.

Pencil-shaped buttons

So, today’s shopping bill came up to around Rm400. I still have to get hubby’s yarn on my next trip there. No time today as he was waiting outside in the car with the kids. He’ll rant if i stay there too long…. MEN…..

Trip to the yarn shop - Part 1

Finally saw a set of Clover crochet hooks that i really like. The shop showed me a few sets earlier. Also Clover crochet hooks. But then, they only contain either the bigger hooks in a set, or all small ones in a different set. In order to get the best of both worlds, this is what i bought in the end.

Clover crochet needles set

There are 17 crochet hooks in all. Three darning/knitter’s needles, a small ruler and also a small pair of scissors. All housed in a beautiful satin quilted bag. Costs Rm299. Tell me it’s worth it, lol.

Also got myself these 3mm circular needles as i dont have them in this size. These will be used mostly when i make my kids clothes. Cost Rm35 each.

Malcolm’s 1st birthday Tee

060720071471

See… i personalised Malcolm’s Tee by adding his name to it. There was just enough room for his name. I actually wanted to add the number “1″ to the top left in red outlined in black, but i dont have enough time. We’re going out to dinner soon.

Malcolm wasnt feeling well for the whole week as he was down with flu and also coughing. This is the only pic i had of him wearing his birthday Tee with a smile on his face. He’s very fascinated with the balloon we got at my cousin’s wedding dinner on Saturday night. Hope my boy recovers soon and back to his cheerful self again.

Gordon’s 4th birthday present - Progress 3

No time to lose as i’m working this in double strands of Katia Mako 5, a very fine Egyptian cotton yarn. I’ve used this yarn to crochet a newborn double-breasted vest for Malcolm before. And also a button-front vest for Gordon for his 3rd birthday.

This is indeed a beautiful yarn to work with. I’ll be knitting this in 3mm all the way up, starting with 90 stitches for the 2″ garter and increasing to 106 stitches after that. I think it’ll take at least 10 rows to knit even an inch, lol. Really time-consuming piece.

I’ve got plenty of time as Gordon’s birthday is on 29th August. But that’s not the reason to procrastinate. That’s why this pic was taken at my cousin sister’s wedding dinner just now, lol. I’m really a knit freak. Didnt i say i am not afraid to knit in public.

Malcolm’s 1st birthday present - Completion

It’s finally done, phew!! I knitted for 3 whole days and did the finishing touches today. Sewed on Winnie’s outlines and added the three pencil-shaped buttons. I ran a fever earlier today at noon and i was thinking i wont be well enough to complete it. After 4 panadols and lots of rest, i felt better and quickly got it done. So, here’s my work of love for the birthday boy tomorrow; just as promised. Hope Malcolm likes it :)

Gordon's 4th birthday present - Progress 2

Just started on this after finished knitting Malcolm’s tee. Am having lunch with hubby and Malcolm at The Filling Station. I love the RED, dont you. I know this is going to be another nice knitted Tee for Gordon. With Mickey on it, i think he’ll want to wear it everyday, lol.

Malcolm’s 1st birthday present - Progress 5

This is where i’ll stop for the time being. It’s 6.30am!! That means i’ve been knitting since Malcolm woke up for a feed at 1.30am. I dont get to knit much during the day as both kids wants all of my attention, lol. Moreover, i spent almost an hour untangling a ball of Brilla when Malcolm played with it when i wasnt noticing. Looks like i’ll be able to finish Winnie by evening if nothing gets in the way. Cant wait to move on to the sleeves. *fingers crossed*
