Gordon’s Mickey Mouse Tee - Progress 6

Yes. I’ve resumed work on Gordon’s tee. I may not be able to complete it for his birthday, but i still hope to finish it in time for Christmas. There’s an inch to go before i move on to the front piece. Cant wait ti start on Mickey Mouse. I’ve decided not to blog so much but to relax and knit more instead. My kids miss their carefree mom. I’ve bought so much yarn for both myself and also for them, but didnt make time to start some new projects. The yarn store called to let me know there’s new yarn. I want to buy more, but i must finish up those i’ve bought first. I’m having withdrawal symptoms just by not buying more yarn, lol.

Gordon’s Mickey Mouse Tee - Progress 5

DSC03900

Isnt it weird that i can only find time to knit in the car. I finally took Gordon’s Mickey Tee out from it’s tomb and started working on it again. I didnt knit much also, only got about 10 rows done yesterday. This is just the back piece and needs a couple of inches more before i can start work on the front with the Mickey. Working with fine knitting needles can be really slow. The piece just wont go up. It can be tiring for an impatient person. If you are an impatient one, i suggest you stick with 4mm needles and above. I just want to concentrate on Gordon’s tee for the time being. Though i have many new yarn, i’m so not going to start on another new piece until i am at least 85% done on this piece. If not, it’s sure going to rot again.

Sorry, Gordon….

Gordon’s birthday was 3 days ago, and i didnt get to finish his Mickey Mouse shirt in time. I was too busy concentrating on hitting my target to knit much. I took it out of it’s bag yesterday and knitted a few rows. And i’ve lost some of the speed. I have to re-work my hands to gain back the speed and the right consistent tension throughout. I found that i no longer like the crochet blouse that i did earlier. Oh, this is oh-so-me. It’s only a few inches anyway. I’ll unravel the whole thing and select a new design, lol. Damn…. i’m do fickle-minded and hard to please. And i feel like buying more yarn too :o

Get moving

Only 10 days to go…. geeee. I really should continue with both Gordon’s birthday tee. I’ve been so busy these month that i havent really knitted much. As for my own crochet blouse, it’s also rotting inside its bag, lol. The yarn store was gracious enough to replace my #2 crochet hook by exchanging the entire set for me. At a small cost, of course. Which i gladly and promptly paid for. If you wanna know why i stopped my crochet, it’s because my kid poked the hook through the mosquito netting and scratched its surface at the tip making it catch onto the yarn with every stitch i make.

As you know its a new set and i’ve just started using it on a new project. So, it’s a bit heart dampening when that happened and i shelved the project and lost the mood to knit as well. They were reluctant to exchange it for me at first, but i’ve been their loyal customer for almost 20 years. Moreover, i offered them a price which they found it hard to refuse too. So, what the heck. As long as i get what i want at the end of the day, i’m happy.

Bagful of Yarn

This is not the only bag. I’ve got more beneath the bed. All new yarns. I just love buying yarn, more than i do clothes. Everytime there’s new stock, the yarn store is bound to call to inform me. Unless i dont go there, or i’m sure to come back with another batch, lol. The ones in lilac are my latest buys. I havent thought of any nice patterns or cutting for these beautiful yarns yet. But i’ll most likely make halters or spaghetti-strapped tops. They go well with just about anything and easy to knit or crochet.

Gordon’s 4th birthday present - Progress 4

Managed 8 inches so far with 3mm needles. Compared to 3.25mm, it’s much slower. I’ve exactly 30days to go till Gordon’s birthday on 29th August. Do you think i’ll complete it in time? If i just keep knitting and dont do anything else, i dont see why not, lolz.

Crochet blouse in Lily Yarn - Progress 1

We wanted to go settle some payments at the bank today and so we went straight down to Greentown right after we sent Gordon to school. As it’s also lunch time, we dropped by my friend’s restaurant, The Filling Station, that serves really good Italian food at very affordable prices. Hubby finished his spaghetti and helped me feed Malcolm whilst i ate my lasagna.

I started work on this blouse about two nights back. As i said before, i’m in no hurry to get it done. But i was desperate to try out my new Clover crochet hooks. I’m using #2 for this piece. The hook is very light and smooth. I like it immediately and would recommend it to anyone who still have yet to buy their first set of crochet hooks. A set is all you need for all your crochet projects. Definitely a must-buy item.

The blouse in the book is a bit too loose for my liking. I’m making it more clingy to my body. As i’m so darn skinny, the flutter sleeves will be nice for a change. Lily Yarn is a great metallic yarn to work with, for both knitting and crochet projects. Comes in a vast array of colors to suit all skintones. It’s such a delightful and smooth yarn; so smooth that it’ll just slide off from the ball and get all tangled up. So, if you work with this yarn, be sure to put it inside a plastic bag.

Trip to the yarn shop - Part 2

Here are some Pony yarn bobbins. As i’m doing intarsia for my kids clothes, these will come in handy as i only need to wind the required amount of yarn onto them instead of twisting large balls all the way. Half the time, they get all tangled up and i waste lots of precious time untangling them.

Pony yarn bobbins

Also picked up a packet of these Clover rubber point protectors for my finer knitting needles. I have some for the bigger needles but not for my finer ones like 3mm and below. I tried them on and they fit perfectly.

And last of all, three pencil-shaped buttons to replace the ones i removed from Gordon’s vest for use on Malcolm’s Birthday Tee. You see, i bought for him two buttons but found that i needed three. What to do…. get from his Korkor’s lohh.

Pencil-shaped buttons

So, today’s shopping bill came up to around Rm400. I still have to get hubby’s yarn on my next trip there. No time today as he was waiting outside in the car with the kids. He’ll rant if i stay there too long…. MEN…..

Trip to the yarn shop - Part 1

Finally saw a set of Clover crochet hooks that i really like. The shop showed me a few sets earlier. Also Clover crochet hooks. But then, they only contain either the bigger hooks in a set, or all small ones in a different set. In order to get the best of both worlds, this is what i bought in the end.

Clover crochet needles set

There are 17 crochet hooks in all. Three darning/knitter’s needles, a small ruler and also a small pair of scissors. All housed in a beautiful satin quilted bag. Costs Rm299. Tell me it’s worth it, lol.

Also got myself these 3mm circular needles as i dont have them in this size. These will be used mostly when i make my kids clothes. Cost Rm35 each.
